General Information

Report Cards

Report cards may be picked up 1 week after the last day of each term. It is important to pick them right away because they will not be available for more than 3 weeks following the end of the term. To obtain a report card from a term in the past, you will have to pay the front office $3.00 and wait for at least a week.

Choices Form

The Choices (PSI) form comes out once a year in March for graduated and graduating students. Students complete the form and sign it. This allows the Ministry of Education to release students' marks electronically to designated post-secondary institutions. This saves the students much time as otherwise they would have to hand deliver (or mail) their transcripts personally. The marks will appear online by the end of May and July each year. Students will have to obtain an interm report from their teacher for any courses in propgress during the above times.

New to the School?

School orientations will be provided by Dave Hamar at the beginning of each term. Talk to him in his office (room 438) to make an appointment for an orientation.

Textbooks

Most Main Street courses require that the students have an associated textbook to complete the course. Students will be asked to pay a $100 textbook deposit for each course. Ninety dollars will be refunded when the textbook and receipt are returned to the school. Students that are unable to pay the deposit will be asked to see Dave Hamar for an alternative arrangement.

Transcripts

Upon completing all of the graduation requirements and filling out the grad sign-up sheet, students will receive a diploma and an official transcript from the Ministry of Education. Questions can be answered through the transcript department at 604.660.2421. Additional transcripts may be ordered through the front office at a cost of $3.00 per copy.

Parking

Main Street Education Centre has paid parking options on the bottom floor of the building. Alternatively, students can park for free on the roads surrounding the school but only during the posted times. Vehicles parked illegally will be quickly towed so make sure that you diligently check the street signs.

Go-Cards

Students who are full-time (2 quartered classes or 4 semestered classes) AND are under the age of 20 can get a go-card application from Dave Hamar. This will allow the student to obtain a go-card from Artona (353 w. 7th. Ave Vancouver). The go-card allows students to use the transit system for much cheaper.

Student Cards

All students that have registered for at least one class may get a student card application from Dave Hamar. These cards will not allow students to travel on the transit system for cheaper.
